Dirty French at Ludlow Hotel NYC

Dirty French

WHITNEY MUSEUM: Fast Forward: Painting from the 1980s…

THE WHITNEY
Kenny Scharf (b. 1958). When the Worlds Collide, 1984. Oil and acrylic spray paint on canvas,

————

Starting today,  The Whitney will let New Yorkers, tourists, and art-lovers alike in on a most big treat with the opening of Fast Forward: Painting from the 1980s, the ultimate one-stop shop for the bold, modern art pieces that defined one of New York’s coolest, most artistically impressive decades. I can’t wait to go!

I heard you will be able to see works from Jean-Michel Basquiat to Julian Schnabel, the ’80s wasn’t all about big hair, personal computers, PACMAN, or NASA. In a changing world, artists of the 80s were each in their own way keen on painting in political gestures and comments within their works. Let’s just say if you thought there was social conflict today, give yourself a reality check. Let us not forget that AIDS, feminism, gentrification, and war were all just as big hitters back in the day as well. Don’t Miss it!!

On display from January 27th to May 14th, the exhibition is sure to draw quite the crowd – so get in early. You’ll want to grab these Instagrams for sure!

The Beekman Hotel
The Beekman Hotel

The Beekman Hotel presents the new restaurant Augustine by Keith McNally, the same restaurateur from Balthazar. The food is very good and the atmosphere is awesome.
